Annual Harvest Thanksgiving - Extension For More In-Gathering
This year, we recently celebrated our Annual Harvest Thanksgiving. This is a tradition in the life of our Parish. The celebration was in two parts - First, a Thanksgiving service with in-gathering of gifts in the morning. Secondly, there was a sale of gifts received and other things with tea in the evening in the school yard.
With regards to the in-gathering, which was launched at our Patronal Festival on March 17th, members were asked to contribute a certain amount (like $1.00 per day) and to ask their families and friends to match their contributions for other amounts. From the time it was launched to the Harvest Thanksgiving da, it would have been more than $100.00 for those who would have put away $1.00 per day.
Some members have given more than $100.00 along with other contributions, including matching contributions from family and friends. However, some have not for various reasons - did start on time, difficult to ask others, tough economic times, etc. As a result, the goal which was set for this event, fell short amidst urgent financial need. To this end, it was decided to extend the ingathering to the end of August, requesting that all funds be brought in on September 1st and allow all to manage a more meaningful effort and contribution.
